It is widely believed that the human mind is vast and limitless.

Unfortunately, this is as far as mine goes.

Walk Slowly

November 30, 2007

It still saddens me that Wolfmann+ has decided to part ways but is comforting that they did stay together as long as they did despite Wilf's passing two years ago.  His second independent release, Diner, gave us great songs like "Baked Mushroom " and "Piniritong Dalagang Bukid" among others.  The follow up disc was a post mortem effort produced by his family and friends from unfinished cuts and clips found in his computer. it's a self-titled wonder that justifiably follows up the creative edge where Diner had left off.  Among the good songs in that album is "Walk Slowly" a slow track Wilf wrote when their original guitarist was migrating to the US.  Many, myself included, now dedicate that song to him.

Thanks to Whannie for uploading the video, which was originally shown during this month's Admit One anniversary/Wolfmann Birthday gig.  Click the Wolfmann icon to watch the video.

Quiz Dork II

Stumbled into this site.

Not that I actually believe in computer-generated quiz results about alternative beliefs, but it does sound logical at least based on my current state.

Your past life diagnosis:

I don't know how you feel about it, but you were male in your last earthly incarnation. You were born somewhere in the territory of modern Borneo around the year 1675. Your profession was that of a designer, engineer or craftsman.
Your brief psychological profile in your past life:
Seeker of truth and wisdom. You could have seen your future lives. Others perceived you as an idealist illuminating path to future.
The lesson that your last past life brought to your present incarnation:

Do you remember now?

Eyng…?

Three days ago I was over at the Manila Peninsula for the the launch of LG's latest mobile phone.

Two days ago I was in that hotel's Presidential Suite for the launch of three new MP3 players and an LCDTV from Samsung.

And yesterday morning, I was just informed that the event I was to attend that afternoon was canceled when we found out that there was some sort of militant activity in Ayala headed by Sen Antonio Trillanes and cohorts.  So they're not commemorating the fourth anniversary of the Oakwood Mutiny, are they?  Anyway, this time its core was the Manila Pen and you can tell that this group really loves five-star hotels.  (Info here)

Somebody in the office turned a radio on to listen to the news, and they were shuffling as the events unfolded and new updates came in every now and then from field reporters at the scene.  All this happened while I was reading a copy of 1602 Clifford had brought.  I really can't say that I actually care.  I can't say that don't give a flying fuck what was happening, but as long as nobody gets killed and as long as the entire thing doesn't snowball into one behemoth of shit I'm not going get rattled by it.  I care more about the direction of the Pinoy rock scene than this.  I had lost interest in whatever political shit the country runs crashes onto.  So when did I start getting apolitical?  When Erap became president.  That's a deal breaker right there.

Anyway I decided to meet up with Donna to hang out at Robinson's Galleria.  During the first few hours of roaming the damn mall, she received a text message saying that there was gonna be a curfew in the Metro and anyone caught outdoors at midnight would be apprehended.

Oh nice, sure give us a feel of the good ole Martial Law days because that's exactly what I always jot down to answer "If you could go back in time, what would like to experience?" when I'm asked to answer slum notes back in grade school.

And apparently, Trillanes' group had brought tanks inside the hotel.  Now I pity the hotel owners, well not really.  Gunfires were also heard from the area with the shots coming from the government side of the fence.  This was around 3:00pm and round this same, Sen Jamby Madrigal was spotted at Powerplant Mall in Rockwell Center doing some last minute shopping, according to a text message Donna had received.

So around 9pm we went home and I was welcomed by an unseasonable traffic in Cubao at nearly 10:30.  I mean, those weren't streets, they were freaking parking lots.  I got home at 11:55.
