It is widely believed that the human mind is vast and limitless.

Unfortunately, this is as far as mine goes.

Ode to the Sea

Ode to the Sea

Ode To The Sea
Pablo Neruda

Here Surrounding the island
There’s sea.
But what sea?
It’s always overflowing.
Says yes,
Then no,
Then no again,
And no,
Says yes
In blue
In sea spray
Raging,
Says no
And no again.
It can’t be still.
It stammers
My name is sea.

It slaps the rocks
And when they aren’t convinced,
Strokes them
And soaks them
And smothers them with kisses.
With seven green tongues
Of seven green dogs
Or seven green tigers
Or seven green seas,
Beating its chest,
Stammering its name.

Oh Sea,
This is your name.
Oh comrade ocean,
Don’t waste time
Or water
Getting so upset
Help us instead.
We are meager fishermen,
Men from the shore
Who are hungry and cold
And you’re our foe.
Don’t beat so hard,
Don’t shout so loud,
Open your green coffers,
Place gifts of silver in our hands.
Give us this day
our daily fish.

nota bene:
*the picture I used above is part of the photo set I took during Epson’s media tour to Batanes. Overly delayed post, yeah I know, but I’ve been so busy lately I haven’t had the time to start writing about the trip.

MetroGigs: Narda from the Lazarus Pit?

February 24, 2008

I forgot to charge my phone yesterday and even forgot where I’d left it.  This morning I found it lodged between my pillow and my speaker set. I grabbed its charger and plugged it onto the socket on the wall and turned it on.  And along came a barrage of text message, most of which are forwarded quotes, a reminder from the mobile network provider and one particularly painful message that made me almost want to punish myself by starvation.  It says:

SONICBOOM @ Atchie’s Bar, El Pueblo, Ortigas.
2nite. Feb 23. 9pm. Sat.
w/ Urbandub, Hilera, Sandwich, Severo, Nyctinasty, Switch & DJ Dubious.

Badtrip. I wanted to go out last night but didn’t know where to go. If I only I had charged my mobile yesterday…ay regrets.

Anyway.  Got this juicy bit from Karla (fellow lister / deviantart buddy), who also found it from the Narda multiply site.

One Night Only

Cafe Saguijo
10pm

I miss watching this band. It’s been such a fucken long time since I last saw them live. It was in Millennia. Yes, it was that long ago. Right around that time, I started focusing on work and slowly began losing touch with my love for indie musicians (which almost died completely when Twisted Halo, Sheila and the Insects, Wolfmann+ and Boldstar kicked the bucket, and survived by Ciudad, Pedicab, etc). Before that, straight from school I’d go out with friends to watch indie bands, buy their albums, have them autographed and follow the gigs of the ones we liked the most.  And now I’d like to reconnect with the scene once more, and hopefully I haven’t been disensetized by mainstream media about music. At sana dehins ako tamarin.

For the past few months, the likes of "Molotov," "Nico" and "Gasolina" have been in heavy circulation in my MP3 playe. Perhaps I’ve grown tired of Chino Moreno’s anguished screams and slurring melancholia.  Perhaps I’ve gotten tired of waking up to Cog’s raging metal barrage. Perhaps I needed to listen to something more subtle and had a female voice carrying it.

I’m so gonna fucken be there.  For the meantime, here’s my fave Narda track "Molotov" from one of their SaGuijo gigs.

Grammar Be Damned II: A Plea for Stuffs

Tatagalugin ko na at gagawing itim ang font color ko na kadalasang e gray para lang maintindihan mo. At sana nga makinig ka dito. Maigi. Alang noun na "stuffs." Acceptable lang ito kung gagamitin as present tense ng verb that means "to fill a container" o "pinupuno."

Syempre dehins ‘no.

Sana magkaroon ng paglilinaw ukol dito sa mga paaralan or me magtayo ng Society for the Prevention of the Usage of "Stuffs" as a Noun. Isa na ako sa mga mauunang mag-sign up sa campaign na ‘yon.

Quiz Dork: Geekness Factor

What Be Your Nerd Type?

Your Result: Literature Nerd

Does sitting by a nice cozy fire, with a cup of hot tea/chocolate, and a book you can read for hours even when your eyes grow red and dry and you look sort of scary sitting there with your insomniac appearance? Then you fit this category perfectly! You love the power of the written word and it’s eloquence; and you may like to read/write poetry or novels. You contribute to the smart people of today’s society, however you can probably be overly-critical of works. It’s okay. I understand.

During the flight back to Manila (more on this later), I had just plugged my earbuds in and was about to doze off when I saw this headline from the IT section of the Manila Bulletin.

Older?

February 7, 2008

I swiped this quiz off aoitenshi who got it from mcspazzerton.

SO apparently, I act older than my age.  Ho-hum.

You Act Like You Are 27 Years Old
You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel like an adult, and you’re optimistic about life.
You feel excited about what’s to come… love, work, and new experiences.

You’re still figuring out your place in the world and how you want your life to shape up.
The world is full of possibilities, and you can’t wait to explore many of them.

What Age Do You Act?
