Unfortunately, this is as far as mine goes.
Hmmm: Good Times on Studio 23
February 27, 2008
I’ve been a long-time listener of Magic 89.9’s Good Times with Mo. Well I try to catch it as much as I can because, to be honest, Chico and Delamar’s witty banter every 30 minutes or so just aren’t doing it for me. But don’t get me wrong, I still listen to Chics and Del’s Top 10, but the reason I tune in to morning shows is because I’m not really a morning person and I prefer chatter over music when I’m trying to stay awake. They started a lot of crazy shit on radio, most were unexplored fucktardnes and they ended up getting a little infamy. Especially with the "Forbidden Questions" part. But all that seemed irrelevant if you consider the sheer number of prize these people give away every week.
Quite recently (as in 35 minutes ago), I watched the pilot for their TV program on Studio 23 and was immediately amused with the sight of RA Rivera and Angel Rivero onscreen –yes, the same people behind UNTV’s now dead series Strange Brew (SB) which I sincerely loved. I’d have to say that it was a groundbreaking show that was the launchpad of both Tado and Angel Rivero’s careers and served as the birthing canal of Ramon Bautista and RA Rivera’s subtle playground before he grouped with Raymund Marasigan and company to form Pedicab. Dubbed as "Ang show na may TAMA," you can see many outtakes, experimental cinematography and the deliberately-off-center editing styles which were decidedly signature Strange Brew in some TV programs, most prominent is seen in Korina Sanchez’s Rated K, some MTV Philippines micro series and a handful of Studio 23 local shows. I was half expecting Tado and Ramon Bautista to show up too.
Now to fucken mix these two fucken element in a fucken blender and hitting start, sort of ended up with a hell lot of fucken mess for me. Really, it sunds good on paper, but the execution was a little short of weak. Sorry, I felt bad too since I had high hopes for he show. It was like watching a [more] fucked up (in a dissapointing manner) episode of SB with cameos from Angel Rivero and RA Rivera but minus the humor, the complete randomness and the absurdity that was SB’s bread and butter and cheese spread. It also felt like an overextended vlog filmed with good equipment with all the gratuitous self-indulgence and Andi obviously trying too hard for the camera that she missed the bull’s eye. Having said that I feel like I’ve betrayed an old friend, spat on him and stompped on his now mangled body. Shame on me for passing judgement on a pilot. Perhaps the show would get better in the coming episodes or at least it’s something that grows on you. Sana because I’d hate to see a potentially good idea go to waste.

so they’re on tv now ha! after leaving radio, i would tune in to chico and del and on occasion, to good times, whenever i actually did wake up early and managed to roll out of bed before 9. =)
waking early is the one thing about my show that i do NOT miss. but as fate would have it, i’m sometimes on shift at 6AM these days.
