The Karl Roy Benefit Concert

I have a gazillion things to do, but here’s something that made my head halt and then really got me depressed. I decided to visit my twitter when I read PhilMusic’s Jim Ayson tweet " Feeling sad for Karl Roy" at around 6:pm which really piqued my interest (and concern), followed by Joey’s tweet that says "saddened by the news from manila about rockstar karl roy on having strokes and being paralyzed. intervewed him several times on my show"

And I went, "What the fuck!"  Not as a tweet, but right in my office work station (yeah well, I may no longer work for a call center but I still refer to office tables/desks that way because it sounds a hell lot cooler).  And at around 9:00pm Jim Ayson tweets again with " The Karl Roy Benefit Concert: http://tinyurl.com/3bvxld" which, after you read, will shed some light on recent events on the former Advent Call/POT and current Kapatid vocalist…particularly the lines "The right side of his body got paralyzed. (Although there has been some improvement) and he has a hard time speaking, let alone sing…" left me stunned and unable to concentrate with my towering stack of work on my IN tray. I can only imagine what his wife and Kevin must be going through right now.

I think just a handful of bands have branded together for the benefit concert earlier in the day but as of this moment, 13 bands have signed on for the one-night benefit concert. And I seriously admire them for for pulling all stops to give a hand.

If you were in that benefit gig for John Dinopol over at Freedom Bar many moons ago (and had dropped your donation on the hat that went around ) when he became a victim of a random street crime that resulted in a gunshot to his guitar arm…

…or if you were kind enough to have attended Admit One’s benefit gig for Tungaw’s Woowoo Ortiz in SaGuijo…

…or felt the nearly dehumanizing sadness that was Greyhoundz’s Allen Cudal’s tribute gig at Freedom Bar…

…or joined the Wolfmann+ clan to celebrate Wilf’s life and music…

…if you can, support this concert.  And it’s just roughly the price of two venti frappes or an MMORPG prepaid game card (which you’d probably burn up before the day ends).
