Unfortunately, this is as far as mine goes.

Four Weeks, One Post

May 10, 2008

It’s been a while since I actually posted something about my day. And so I decided it’d be easier to post a long post that summarized the past four weeks in one post. So here’s a doozy…

April 14
Monday

The next Monday following this disaster, I was assigned to attend another product launch that unveiled a whole array of mobile phones positioned for specific segment market. I saw and shared a table with Armin from the Batanes crew. She says she’s planning to go back to Batanes. The lovely Sam Oh (and I really mean that) hosted the following press conference followed by a raffle. And I won a multimedia phone. Oh yeah! And I was restraining myself from giving Sam Oh a bear hug as I got upstage for a photo op.

I told their marketing people that the phone I won has to be my loyalty award since I’m still using one of their entry-level candybar phones which was one of the biggest purchases I’ve made during my call center days. So that’s five years.

April 16
Wednesday

I headed for the Hard Rock Café for a press conference on a white paper that revealed results of an IT security study conducted across Asia. It’s not exactly one of the most exciting and fun events I would go to, but it sorta rocked because I met one of my radio heroes, Adel. I’ve been a fan of his radio talk shows (Twisted on a Sunday and Night Lite) up until college when the radio station he used to manage reformatted and dropped a majority of the staff and the shows and ended up becoming an low-frequency NU107-clone. We even shared a table, a few laughs and he revealed that he and his former co-hosts/cohorts have been planning a comeback, probably as podcasts. Excited I am.

Cielo and I met up with Angel over at Krispy Kreme for some donuts and frap.

April 17
Thursday

The day ended with an OT marathon with Cliff. Stayed at the office until midnight trying to squeeze in some writing time, since I’m beginning to return to the same old the-ideas-only-come-at-night phase and I was on a roll and I didn’t want to break the momentum. Had a huge dinner at the nearest convenient store.

April 18 (PICS)
Friday

The day before Cliff’s birthday. The girls at the office organized this small bit with a cake and glittered his cube with post-its with greeting. Cliff had some huge pizzas delivered. Mmm.

And because it was a Friday, Cielo, Doris, Billy and I headed for the Mall of Asia for some dinner for a sort of despedida for Cielo who was going to the US for a three-week vacation. Ate at Tokyo Tokyo and had some meal named after Imago…and I’m still a little bit both disgruntled and proud of the fact that the previously virtually unknown band I used to follow has now grown popular and now has a line of endorsements. Abused the unlimited rice refill just a bit. :D

April 19
Saturday

Attended the Greenpinoy meetup over at Greenbelt. Got to the meeting place two hours after the set time, but luckily they were still waiting for someone else so they were still there when I got in. Met some awesomely interesting people and had loads of fun playing some logic games (for lack of a better term), something I wasn’t really expecting from this crowd judging from the greenpinoy.com contents. Chugged beer and ate some. Ended up at some karaoke bar. Had to leave early. Bitin. Promising myself I’d join these people again soon.

Gusto ko ng Metallica pero ayoko sa Pearl Jam. Mwehehehe!!!

April 21
Monday

Went [again] to Krispy Kreme with Verns and Deb. Again, the pursuit to get to the weight I was at exactly a year ago was foiled by Verns’ graphic description of the Krispy Kreme donut. Deb, by chance, was sipping coffee from Mister Donut. Teehee.

Also, Cielo flies to the US.

April 22
Tuesday

Finally got to try the new Dulce de Leche frap Cielo’s been raving about. And all I can say is that it restored my lost faith in Starbucks‘ when they phased out Rhumba. Alavet! It’s a great cooler for an excruciatingly hot day. Ahahaha…that sounded like a tagline for an ad.

April 23
Wednesday

Entertainment product launch at a far off location, a few blocks away from the daily where I had my OJT. The entire mag team attended. Saw Armin, Juned and Adel. So this was where Rage Against the Machine, the Beatles and Metallica had stayed during the Manila leg of their respective world tours. Hm. Great food. Freakishly HOT outside, freezing indoors. The company gave out colognes. Smells great, but I find that if I would use it, I should only spray a small amount because more than a spray and I’d crash into a rhinitis fit. Won an HD-DVD player. The bosses won too.

April 24
Thursday

After work, I joined Doris and Billy on a carpool to Cubao. Billy parked at Greenbelt. Doris suggested we have dinner and the closest was Razon’s. Before our orders came I rushed to the National Bookstore nearby where Budjette Tan had specifically twittered finding copies of his Trese book just a couple of hours before. Store database blurted “sold out” and so I went back to Razon’s empty handed to have some sisig and halo-halo. On the way out, I bumped into Budjette himself, asked about the book availability and told me about stock replenishment the following Saturday.

April 25
Friday

After the recent murder of Sisig Queen Aling Lucing, Billy and I thought It’d be appropriate to pay our respects. So we headed for the Aling Lucing just across the street for some sisig time.

April 26
Saturday

Finally got to buy the first TRESE book by Budjette Tan and Ka-Jo Baldisimo that compiles the first four cases that Alexandra and the Kambal ram headfirst onto. YEY! Found three copies, almost hidden at the Filipiniana section of the National Bookstore, Glorietta. Got one!

May 1
Thursday

No work today. And just as expected, human rights protests abound the city. I woke up to the sounds of a marching band playing that blasted Hawaii Five-O. Meh!

After being begged by my nephew to put up his K’nex roller coaster, I finally gave in. Spent the day putting the damn thing up; and when it’s nearly complete, I found out that the package had some missing pieces. What a huge waste of time that turned out to be!

Got Rickrolled three times and it’s not funny anymore. Seriously. Actually cussed out loud the third time Rick Astley fucked with my ears. It’s getting old, people! There has got to be something else you can throw at me that’s actually amusing. Oh yeah, heard Rickrolling has revived the old douche’s career. Meh! Anyway, thanks to Jonathan Coulton’s “First of May” for clearing the bad aftertaste Rick left behind.

May 3
Saturday

Free Comic Book Day at Comic Odyssey, Robinson’s Galleria. I have wanted my copy of Trese autographed and I wanted one of the Trese posters. And of course, I also want those free comic books. Bad trip. I wasn’t able to go and I wanted to kick myself because of it. And so to prevent actual self-inflicted physical pain, I headed for SM Taytay to watch Iron Man. It was a total geeky fanboy’s wet dream come true; I had to restrain myself from giggling like some school girl so instead, I wrote this. Also saw trailers for the new Indiana Jones thing and The Incredible Hulk.

May 5
Monday

Sleep deprived and with an absolutely empty gut (woke up before breakfast was cooked), I had to rush over to the Intercon. We got on a van all the way to the domestic airport, hopped onto an eight-seater for a 30-minute flight to Clark, Pampanga. The place was completely lovely; a beautiful industrial park where the vegetation was very green and the facilities were as modern as hell. It would’ve been great to actually live there. We had lunch at a Brazilian resto over at the Holday Inn, where people with skewers of sausages, ribs and chicken breasts went from table to table. They surprised HER with a cheesecake and singing. Verns and I, on the other hand, drooled over the chocolate fountain at the buffet.

May 6
Tuesday

HER’s birthday. Lotsa food. Balloons. And a bouquet of flowers which they had entrusted me to give her. She blushed like hell when I handed her the flowers as everyone sang the ancient birthday song. Jonathan Coulton’s “Big Bad World One” began playing in my head during cake. What the fuck is wrong with me? Meh.

A few hours later, I was at the test lab where Leah was also hanging out. She was looking over Cielo’s MP3 list. HER popped in to ask Jonald a question and Leah began playing “Happy Birthday” by the Itchyworms. Leah then cheerfully tells HER “Hey, kanta para sa ‘yo!” She then turns up the volume as Jugs begins singing, “Nakakaawa ka naman…” and Leah looked as clueless as HER, who raised her eyebrows trying to recognize the song. HER thanks Leah. After HER leaves the lab, I looked at Leah and explained what the song was about. She laughed her ass off!

LOL at the codename. :P

I have yet to go to Krispy Kreme! I keep forgetting about it, blah.

Syempre! AHAHAHAHA…sssshhhhhh! :D

Nako, whenever I go to Krispy Kreme it’s always Verns’ or Cielo’s fault. You should never hang out with these people if you plan on going on a diet.
